"Young Disciples"  in Worship

We love kids (of all ages) in worship ~ It is a sign of joy and life and wisdom! Children are a gift...and are welcome in ALL parts of the life of the church.

On Sundays, we have a variety of opportunities for young people:

• Children's Sermon "Time with Young Christians" - each Sunday a special message for kids of all ages!
• Seasonal "Voices of Youth" Choir (3-4x a year, rehearsal during 10:30am worship in Sunday School)
• Nursery Care (10am - 12noon on Sundays)
• Children's Sunday School (start in 10:30am worship, then kids go as a group to Sunday School after the Time with Young Christians.
• Kid's Prayer, Pray & Play Zone - coloring & activity pages, crafts, and age-related worship supplies right up front in the sanctuary during worship
• Worship Activity Binders - crayons, stickers, coloring pages for those who want to stay in worship but sit in the pews
• Youth Liturgists, Acolytes, Speakers and Singers

At SUMC, we are having a "growth spurt" ~ which is a wonderful thing!

Summer Godly Play!!

As part of the Turquoise Table Time Summer Series, we will have Godly Play Story-time with Pastor Ali @7pm. Godly Play uses a Montessori-style learning environment to help young people wonder about how God is at work, rather than teaching them to memorize stories.

"I wonder which part of the story you liked best?"
"I wonder which part of the story is most important?"

Each story lasts about 20-30 minutes. We will be using the Parables of Jesus on the following dates:

June 28 ~ Parable of the Sower
August 30 ~ Parable of the Mustard Seed
September 27 ~ Parable of the Great Pearl
October 25 ~ Parable of the Good Samaritan

In case of inclement weather, we will have Godly Play Story-time in the Chapel.
