OUTREACH & NURTURE TEAM

SUMC Outreach & Nurture Ministries are grateful for vibrant local missional partnerships, sharing God's Love-in-Action through caring for those in need. Our local partnerships are focused on: Food Insecurity, Children's Nurture and Gun Violence Prevention. SUMC is also active in several regional & global missional partnerships focused on Relief & Restoration Efforts.

Local Missional Partnerships

FOOD INSECURITY

• Grace Cafe - Providing & serving meals to unhoused and unsheltered neighbors with Arch Street UMC
• Cokesbury UMC Food Pantry - Providing canned goods & pantry staples for our friends in nearby Marcus Hook, PA
• ​Harvest Home - Thanksgiving food donation with CityTeam of Chester
• Superbowl of Sharing - canned goods and pantry staples collected during Superbowl weekend for donation to local food bank

CHILDREN'S NURTURE

• Back-to-School Backpack BASH - providing educational supplies for children with HOPE Point Ministries at St. Daniels UMC
• Children's Book Ministry - providing new and gently used children's books to St. Christophers Hospital for Children
• Christmas Gift Giving Mission - helping neighbor families have a joyous Christmas with Hospital University of Pennsylvania Accounting Department & St. Daniels UMC

GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION

• CeaseFirePA - providing education, leadership training & advocacy around firearm risks and safety.
• Heeding God's Call To End Gun Violence - opportunities to participate in social action, policy change, vigils, and t-shirt memorial to the lost
• Toll the Bell (Penn Live Arts) - community witness to raise awareness & stop gun violence in Philadelphia and beyond
• Chester Community Coalition - community outreach & healing support for those affected by gun violence in Chester

Regional/Global United Methodist Missions

• Eastern Pennsylvania UMC Support for those in Prison - intergenerational activities at Christmas & Easter  to show caring for those who are incarcerated.
• Project Restoration/Volunteers in Mission - restoring and rebuilding homes in the Eastwick Community after Hurricanes Ida & Isaias
• United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) - the humanitarian relief  & development arm of the UMC, UMCOR provides long-term presence and restoration in the US and all over the globe.
